Arrive early to get the best seat – whether to you that means by the bar, the trivia host or the bathrooms – order your food, your drinks, and do some light mental stretching with your friends. Get your idle chatting out before the host gets on the mic, because once he or she does you’ll want to give them your full attention! They’ll explain (although you’ll already know, since you prepared by reading this page, you striver) that the game consists of five rounds – General Knowledge, True False, Quotes, Character Identity, and the fast and furious Lightning Round…which is more general knowledge, just tougher and faster. Each question of every round will be read twice, and at the END of each round, the host will ask if anyone needs a question re-read. This applies to all but the Lightning Round, during which the questions will be read only twice and will not be repeated. Your team will receive a separate answer sheet for each round, which will be handed out before the beginning of each and collected at the end, when you will get the next answer sheet. Be sure to put your terribly original and incredibly witty team name on every one of your answer sheets to ensure you’re given credit for each and every point you worked so hard to obtain. Lastly, we love the passion participants bring to our events; in fact the only thing we love more is honesty and integrity, which is why we know we don’t have to worry about anyone cheating... right? All cell phones, smart phones, dumb phones, iPads, iTouches, laptops, GPSs, transistor radios et al must be put away while questions are being asked. Between rounds, knock yourselves out ignoring everyone at your table. But honestly, you can go approximately 15 minutes without texting that guy you shouldn’t be texting until he texts you first.
PRIVATE & CORPORATE EVENTS
We have the ability to customize any type of trivia event, including birthdays, bar/bat mitzvahs, bachelor/bachelorette parties, weddings, graduations and more. Our corporate team-building trivia events help companies bond through a detailed and fun experience.
Team
We work hard and play hard.
Dave Oliver
President & Founder
Dave simply isn’t human. It is widely speculated that he never sleeps, but if he does, there is no doubt he continues to design trivia answer sheets in his dreams. As President and Founder of Trivia, AD, his tireless leadership and vision is what keeps this business growing. He has 3 passions in life, (NY Yankees Baseball, Pearl Jam & Seinfeld) unless his wife is reading this, in which case he has 1 and it is her. Dave is a proud father and strives for perfection in everything he does, including his hair, although he inexplicably insists on covering it with a baseball cap more often than not.
Kara Oliver
"The Boss"
Kara Oliver, an administrator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and freelance copyeditor, is a long-time trivia buff thanks to a knack for remembering movie & tv quotes and random facts for no apparent reason. Equally as interested in pop culture, sports and mindless TV as she is in art, literature and Antiques Roadshow, she is happy to be a part of Trivia AD’s unique, fun, challenging events for fellow trivia fans. Originally from upstate NY, Kara has lived in Hoboken for 14 years, enjoys watching the Yankees win, judging beauty pageants from her couch in her pjs, finding editing mistakes in books, and considers winning $500 on Cash Cab the highlight of her trivia “career.”
Scott Fener
Fuzzy Britches
Scott ingests media for sustenance. Movies, books, music and television are his life blood. At the ripe age of 7, he climbed a frost-covered mountain to catch an episode of DuckTales. At 15, he walked on hot coals to win a Pearl Jam b-side. He is a world renowned rock chiseler, a hobby he took up to be more like Andy Dufresne. He worked for 7 years as a video store clerk, and twice found a way to have original screenplays count for course credit in law school. He knows a lot about a lot, and a little about everything.
Andrea Cox
Quiz Mistress
Andrea was born and raised in Odessa, TX (Yes, the town from Friday Night Lights). She is a graduate of Texas A&M University where she majored in Business Administration and cemented her love of college football. Andrea moved to the NYC area in 2008 and considers herself a mixed breed of Texan and New Yorker but remains loyal to all Texas sports teams (Go Rangers/Cowboys/Mavs/Stars). Her love of TV, Movies, and all things pop culture mixed with her super-human ability to recall tiny details of useless knowledge make her a perfect fit for trivia. Andrea is very excited to make Trivia AD the king of the New York social scene and to be able to tell her parents that all that TV watching finally paid off!
Tracy Cox
Quiz Queen
If Tracy looks familiar, it’s probably because you’ve met her sister, Andrea. Their family was cursed with the know-it-all gene as well as debilitating height. Fortunately, Trivia, AD has offered an outlet for the mountains of trivial knowledge amassed over years of television, movie, and pop-culture obsessions. This Texas native is now spoiled by the amazing access to concerts and theater and will spend far more than she should to see her favorite bands and artists. Six years of participating in weekly trivia at a Fort Worth bar earned Tracy plates on the wall for trivia tournaments and for trying over 200 kinds of beer.
“LP”
Jedi Princess
Lauren Parisi, “LP”, is a self proclaimed Jedi knight, who loves random facts and can recall minor details from TV shows and movies from years past, yet ask her what she had for breakfast? Not a clue. She is super excited to be a part of Trivia, A.D. because it allows her geekiness to finally be put to good use! Originally from central Jersey, LP has been living in Hoboken for 5 years now, along with her cat Princess Leia, and can normally be found double fisting at many of Hoboken’s local watering holes. LP enjoys excessively shopping on Amazon, rooting for the NY Jets no matter what anyone says, Googling things to prove she is right, and knowing that Googling is an acceptable verb nowadays.
Christina Conti
Disney Princess
Christina is constantly in motion. A pantologist, she conquers it all, and does it well. She has a healthy imagination, a happy-go-lucky attitude, and excels at elevating small talk to medium talk. Living for the adrenaline rush, she wrote a letter to Ellen DeGeneres asking to be put in a shark cage in the middle of the ocean with Great Whites. She enjoys adventures and sports that test your strength, stamina, and mental grit, and is just as comfortable running barefoot though the mud as she is dancing in heels and a dress. Christina is patiently waiting to catch a foul ball at a Yankees game and believes that some people are just not meant to play The Clock Game on The Price is Right.
Christina Scotti
History Nerd
Born and raised in Williamsburg, Brooklyn – a rarity that is extinct like dinosaurs in 2013 – Christina is a true Brooklyn girl (it takes Mean Girl to a whole new level, and on Wednesdays she wears pink). With a degree in History, Christina exemplifies many different levels of nerd. Her quirks and obsessions span every part of culture, from DaVinci paintings, the Catholic Church and The New York Mets (Hey, Ya Gotta Believe!), to Harry Potter, Gilmore Girls and ANYTHING Walt Disney. She shows no mercy when it comes to her unhealthy obsession with Full House as well as her love for Back to the Future, which will knock the 1.21 gigawatts out of your DeLorean! The perfect mix of punk rock and hip hop, bebop, dance ‘til ya drop and yo-yo, make a wicked cup of cocoa (and some awesome cupcakes to go with it), Christina is excited to be part of the Trivia AD Team, where her fount of somewhat useless knowledge can finally be tapped.
Alicia Pitts
Her?
“Maybe I should be a little bit more like you when it comes to parenting, huh? No borders, no limits, go ahead and touch the cornballer, you know best.”
